A Barisal court yesterday sent five student of Barisal University to jail in two cases filed for assault on police and vandalism.
The court of Barisal Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Kumar Dye gave the order yesterday noon after they arrested students were produced before the court from Barisal Kotwali Model Police Station.
The accused are Abid Hossain of Mathematics department, Ashis Dhali and Ismail Sardar of Management department, Md. Mehedi hasano of English department and Lutfar Rahman of Law department. Two cases were filed against the five arrested Barisal University students with the police station on Thursday morning for assault on police personnel, obstructing on duty policemen and ransacking a camera of private TV channel Banglavision. Sub Inspector of the station Satta Ranjan Khaskel and Banglavision cameraperson M Selim reza filed the cases.
Inspector M Sakhawat Hossain, officer in-charge of Barisal Kotwali Police Station, said investigation officers have been asked to submit charge sheet in the two cases as early as possible.
At least seven people including three policemen were injured in a clash between police and students of Barisal University on Wednesday afternoon at Police lines road of the city.
