5 THINGS GIVING YOU BAD SKIN

5 THINGS GIVING YOU BAD SKIN

You have a rigorous beauty regime -cleanser, exfoliate, toner, serum, essence, eye cream, sunblock and the list just goes on and on. You think that doing all that would be enough. Then you spot a fine line around your eyes. Or it could be a dry spot on your face, maybe acne on your chin. How could this have happened? You did everything, and then some more!
Well, sometimes it is the little habits and small actions that over time causes our skin to age faster (and unnecessarily) or result in breakouts. While the obvious culprits include experiencing consistent stress, lack of sleep and lacking an exercise routine, here are some surprising ones you never knew! Are you guilty of any of these?

1. NOT CHANGING YOUR PILLOWCASE REGULARLY

Your pillowcase is a breeding ground for bacteria. If you sleep on your side or on your stomach, then be sure to change your sheets often to prevent acne. Do this once a week and you can notice the difference over time! Go the extra mile and invest in pillowcases made from silk or have a higher thread count. This is softer and would be gentle on your face, where the skin is more sensitive.

2. TOUCHING YOUR FACE WITHOUT REALISING

Do you know where your hands have been? This does not imply that you should constantly have a hand sanitizer with you at all times. Rather, you should try to touch your face less frequently. This could be scratching it, rubbing your eyes and forehead. It may be an impulsive motion to touch your chin when you are thinking. STOP! This is why you keep having breakouts at that region.

3. DRINKING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF COFFEE

Cannot seem to live without a cuppa in the morning? When you find yourself needing three or four cups just to get you functioning throughout the day that is when you should take a look in the mirror. Notice that your skin seems to be losing its moisture? Re-hydrate twice the amount of coffee that you drink to prevent dry skin!

4. TALKING FOR HOURS ON YOUR PHONE

This one may surprise you. A lot of us leave our phone in our bag or back pockets, we hold it in our hands (again, can you recall where your hands have been?) and place it on tables. All the bacteria it collects along the way. Then you answer a call from your mom or a long lost friend and you had a really good conversation. It lasted for hours. Keep doing this and you will find breakouts along your jaw-line and cheek. Grab that anti-bacterial wipe every once in a while. You skin will thank you for it.

5. SQUINTING

Find yourself squinting to read emails on your laptop or reading news on your phone? Increase the font size! Why squint and contribute to unnecessary eye wrinkles at this age? Do not waste the effort in applying eye cream and eye masks with this little bad habit.

What is gender? To me, gender is a struggle to be gender-free. I see myself as a woman of today living in a world stuck in yesterday. When will we see tomorrow? Gender to me is a wall. It separates me, not from men,…
