‘All govt facilities will be brought to Gangachhara’

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives Alhaj Moshiur Rahman Ranga has said all government facilities would be brought to Gangachhara upazila for development and improving life standard of local people, reports BSS.
“The people of Gangachhara upazila know how to survive through struggling with devastating erosion and floods of the river Teesta,” he said adding that they also know to improve their fortune if provided with necessary facilities and assistance.
He was addressing launching ceremony of fourth phase of the epoch- making National Service Programme (NSP) at Gangachara Degree College ground at Gangachhara upazila town on Tuesday to create jobs for unemployed educated male and female youths as the chief guest. The upazila administration and Department of Youth Development (DYD) organised the function to launch training courses for the selected 4,234 educated male and female youths to turn them into skilled workforces before appointing under the NSP.
With Gangachhara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rashedul Haque in the chair, Deputy Director of the DYD for Rangpur Dilgir Alam, Gangachhara upazila chairman Asaduzzaman Bablu and General Secretary of upazila Jatiya Party Shamsul Alam addressed as special guests.
Ranga said the present government led by Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for developing the country and improving life standard of the common people, including people of natural disaster-, flood- and erosion-prone Gangachara upazila.
“We have already turned 50 per cent of the ‘kutcha’ roads into ‘pacca’ in Gangachhara upazila where road carpeting works have been continuing at Taka 100 crore,” he said.
Besides, a proposal for constructing flood control embankments on the Teesta riverbank at Taka 137 crore has also been placed before the government for saving the people of Gangachhara upazila from devastating floods and river erosion, he said.
