In observance of Language Martyrs and International Mother Language Day the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) recently organised a discussion and cultural programme on its Dhanmondi Campus Auditorium, says a press release.
The programme started with a recitation by ULAB students. ULAB Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam then delivered his key speech, in which he discussed about the language movement, and in particular his active involvement in the movement.
In the morning, ULAB Vice Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman inaugurated a Book and Photography Exhibition. All the photographs were of the language movement, and most of them were taken by ULAB Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam. In that period he was closely involved and a direct witness of this historic event of the country.
The programme was closed by a musical performance by ULAB Shangskriti Shangshad. Among others, UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan, ULAB Vice Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman, ULAB Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor H. M. Jahirul Haque, along with the faculty and students of ULAB were also present at the event.
