Bangladesh ICT-Expo-2016 is set to kick off today at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) to promote local hardware industry in efforts to transform Bangladesh into a leading manufacturing country, reports BSS.
"The three-day Bangladesh ICT-Expo is the largest hardware exposition in the country," State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said at a press briefing in the capital on Tuesday.
"We are going to organise the mega hardware based show to give a further boost to the vision for building a technology advanced country," he added.
ICT Division and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) in cooperation with different local and international ICT companies are jointly organising the Expo aiming to popularize local hardware brands at both local and international levels, a press release said.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is expected to inaugurate the expo at a function with State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak in the chair.
BCS President Mahfuzul Arif said, "Hardware and software are both equally important for ICT industry. It could be a leading industry with development of hardware and software." The ICT expo is going to begin tomorrow for the second time and it already has turned into excellent technological show, which will focus various on potential investment scenarios, he added.
A total of 14 seminars and sessions will be held during the three-day expo, where nearly a good number of IT experts and top officials of different foreign companies will participate. Local and international hardwire manufacturing companies are expected to participate in the ICT- expo.
