Weeklong exhibition begins at Gallery Cosmos March 4

A weeklong long solo art exhibition, titled Really Dont Mind A Little Bit of Lonesome by artist Asif Bahauddin Sikder, will begin on March 4 at Gallery Cosmos-2, Mohakhali DOHS in the city. Information minister Hasanul Haque Inu will inaugurate the exhibition as chief guest this Friday at 6pm, while Professor Nazma Shaheen, PhD, Director, Institute of Nutrition Food Science, University of Dhaka and Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka will be present as special guests.
Asif Bahauddin Sikder is a Bangladeshi painter based in the US. He is known for breaking the boundaries of existing forms and developing a new genre of semi-abstract-surrealistic paintings that blends inter-cultural character study, philosophical reflection, Indian mysticism, spirituality and divine sexuality/tantra, mixing it all up with his extensive travels and experiences around the world. A surrealist and a mystic, he believes that abstract art uses the associations of form and colour to create meaning, rather than re-creating recognizable motifs. He married Carol Anna Meese, an American painter in the early 1990s. Together they exhibited their works in Kathmandu, Dhaka, Paris, New York and Virginia. The exhibition will remain open to all everyday 12 pm to 8 pm, until March 11.
