Father kills daughter

A man allegedly killed his three-month-old daughter by poisoning at Balirgathi village in Abhayngar upazila on Monday night. Labina Begum, mother of the daughter, said her husband Safiar Rahman often tortured her for giving birth to three female children. About three months ago, she gave birth to another daughter which Safiar could not accept. On Monday morning, Safiar poured poison into his daughter’s mouth while she was in sleep and left the house. Tithila’s mother was out of the house at that time. Later, Labina Begum brought the child to Abhayngar health complex in a serious condition; but the doctor there referred her to Khulna Medical Collage Hospital, where she died at night. Labina has filed a murder case against her husband.
