Stress on making science, ICT-based edn popular

Rangpur: There is no alternative to popularisation of the science- and information & communication technology (ICT)-based modern education among the young students for accelerating pace of overall national development.
The views were expressed at concluding ceremony of the three-day Science & ICT Fair organised by the district administration at BIAM Laboratory School & College in the city on Monday evening, reports BSS.
The fair was arranged in observance of ‘The 37th National Science and Technology Week-2016’ to encourage the students in science and technology-based education for more innovation to attain sustainable national uplift.
Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar attended and addressed the concluding ceremony as chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC- Education & ICT) Priyosindhu Talukder in the chair.
ADC (Revenue) Mostain Billah, Office Secretary of district Awami League (AL) Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, President of city AL Shafiur Rahman and its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal addressed as special guests.
Eighteen stalls were set up in the fair displaying various research activities and innovations of the students of different secondary level educational institutions, success achieved through digitisation and using of the latest ICT and computers.
Earlier, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Minu Sheel inaugurated the fair on February 27 last on the same venue by releasing balloon as the chief guest.
Speakers in the concluding ceremony said the digitisation process using the ICT, computers and internet has been progressing successfully from the bottom to the top layers in building a middle income digital Bangladesh by 2021.
The common people are getting government services quickly in a hassle-free manner from the Union Digital Centres at their doorsteps and web portals at the upazila and district levels by virtue of the digitized ICT facilities, they said.
