Man to die for killing student

A court in Narsingdi sentenced a man to death yesterday for killing a female university student in Narsingdi last year. The convict has been identified as Al Ameen, of Baznabo village in Belabo upazila and he is a sugarcane seller of the area.
According to prosecutor story in brief, Al Amin secretly loved Dipa Akter, a second year honours student of the National university. On May 7, 2015 while returning home from Narsingdi Al Amin stopped Dipa on her way and proposed. As Dipa refused his proposal, Al Amin became furious and hacked her with sharp weapon. Dipa fell down and screamed for help. Local people rushed to the spot and sent her to Narsingdi Zila Hospital. Hospital authorities referred her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH),where she died at night.
A case was filed with Belabo police station. After investigation Belabo police submitted a charge sheet against Al Amin.
Narsingdi District and Session Judge Fatema Najib after examining the witnesses and relevant papers found him guilty and pronounced the verdict yesterday.
