The broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) lost further 27.92 points at yesterday’s close, nearing four months low as market was witnessing a continuous fall due to lack of a clear direction, reports BSS.
The DSEX finished yesterday’s session below 4500-point mark at 4484.03, which was the lowest in nearly four months after 4475.81 on November 6, 2015.
Similarly, the two selective indices - blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES -closed at 1715.41 and 1089.07 respectively, the lowest after December 20 last year.
Market analysts attributed the ceaseless fall to the heavy selloff and price erosion in the large-cap securities. Like many of the previous trading sessions, yestery’s fall was also a result of voluminous sale and price fall in bigger issues including GP, BATBC, Square Pharma, Bata Shoe and Beximco Pharma.
All the major sectors including NBFI, food and allied and bank suffered loss while only cement sector posted marginal gain. The traded securities also incurred loss across the board, with 178 closing lower against 96 marginally advancing issues.
The wholesale price fall resulted in low level transaction. The daily trade value on Tuesday was nearly 5 per cent lower at Tk 440 crore when the volume fell by over 8 per cent to 11.95 crore shares.
The major gaining securities were Ruplai Life, Sunlife, Exim 1stMF, Delta Life and LR Global. The major lagging issues were Zeal Bangla, HWA Well Textiles, Meghna Condensed Milk, GHCL and GP Isphat.
Lanka Bangla topped the turnover list followed by GP, Orion Pharma, Singer and UPGDL.

Out of the day’s 243 issues traded on CSE, only 74 closed higher against 135 losing scrips when 89.52 lkah shares changed hands for Tk 28.12 crore.
