While Tamim Iqbal’s inclusion would unarguably bolster the Bangladesh’s batting strength, the bowling lost its intensity by the absence of fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman.
The young pace sensation, adorably called as cutter master, was ruled out with a side strain, creating a huge void in the Bangladesh’s bowling line up which became a forced to be reckoned since his inclusion to the team in last year.
According to skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, no bowlers in the world at the moment could replace Mustafizur or put an impact what he could do. Such was the praise from a leader who evolved Bangladesh to a mighty team through his inspirational and shrewd captaincy. So his word should be valued.
If his statement is taken into consideration, Bangladesh are in uncomfortable position ahead of the crucial match against Pakistan. A win though could help them make a giant stride towards the Asia Cup final.
“Tamim’s absence in the batting line up creates an uncomfortable situation for us always. He is the best batsman of Bangladesh in all format and an experienced batsman who always adds value to the team,” said Mashrafe, being elated with the inclusion of the team again.
“But Mustafizur’s absence is a huge..huge loss for us. It’s proved what he gives the team is amazing. Since he can’t play, it comes as a tougher challenge for us. No bowlers in the world could take his place. So the task would be hard for a player who is going to replace him in the team.”
The same thing was echoed by head coach Chandika Hathurusingha as he said, “It’s very hard to say what the other bowlers can do what Mustafizur is doing as you know he is exceptional talent, I am sure others will do well what they can do, that’s what I am hoping, it maybe not the same but they can do the same.”
It’s a point of argument whether it could leave the replaced player of Mustafizur in huge pressurised moment when Bangladesh take on Pakistan today but Mashrafe tried to sooth him saying, the team would expect a Mustafizur-like performance from him.
Even though Bangladesh are yet to set the team combination, it seemed the replaced bowler might be young pacer Abu Haider Rony.
“However we are looking ahead. I hope the player who will come in the place of Mustafizur, will give his best. But it would be wrong if we expect a Mustafizur-like impact from him,” he pointed out.
