NSU 24th anniv programme begins tomorrow
North South University (NSU) will hold a 9-day programme from tomorrow to celebrate its 24 founding anniversary at NSU syndicate hall in the capital, says a press release.
In this regard, the first private university in Bangladesh has organised a views exchange session was with editors and senior reporters of the national dailies yesterday.
The celebration, in addition to its colorful inaugural and closing sessions, includes different seminars, CSR programme, public lectures, cultural programmes, colorful rallies, debate competition, drama, alumni activities, international evening, Confucius/Chinese programmes, and Dhaka city road cleaning with two Dhaka city mayors.
Ministers, professors from home and abroad and many renowned personnel from various fields will participate in various events.
The programme was chaired by MA Kashem, chairman of NSU Board of Trustees, where other Board of Trustees were present. Atiqul Islam, vice-chancellor, Gour Gobinda Goswami, treasurer, NSU along with deans of four schools were also present. An interactive session was held at the end, where editors congratulated NSU on their achievement and also agreed to provide all kinds of supports and cooperation regarding the upcoming programs.
BAU film society ‘Protissobi’ starts journey
MYMENSINGH: The Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Film Society ‘Protissobi’ started its journey on the campus yesterday.
Exhibiting films, including full length and short length of home and abroad, arranging intra and inter university short film competition, will be the prime activities of this organisation, said President of ‘Protissobi’ Dr Md Mahmudul Hasan Sikder at a press conference held at the Teacher Student Centre (TSC) of the university.
The organisation will also arrange film show on the campus to collect money for helping the sick students of the university and also for the cold-hit and flood affected people, added the secretary of the organisation Md Saidur Rahman.
The organisation will arrange a two-day film show titled ‘Protissobi-101’ at the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium of BAU. ‘Suea Dilay Mon’, ‘Inside Out’, and ‘Mad Max Fury Road’ movies will be shown on March 4 and ‘Bela Sheshay’, ‘Drishyam’ and ‘San Andreas’ movies will be shown on March 5.
Seminar on university-industry interaction

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organised a seminar on ‘Interaction between University & Industries –RMG and Textile Sector’, at a hotel in the capital on Monday, says a press release.
Engr Mashud Ahmed, vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Textile (BUTex), David Hasanat, chairman of Viyellatex Group and Engr Md Shamsuzzaman, MD, Micro Fibre Group & President, ITET were present as the special guests. The programme was chaired by. Syed Masud Husain, vice-chancellor of BUFT.
Muzaffar U Siddique, founder chairman, Board of Trustees of BUFT, distinguished guests from different garments and textiles industries, high officials from Netherlands Embassy and NUFFIC attended the seminar and the MoU signing ceremony.
Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUFT, presented a keynote paper. He highlighted the importance of the interaction and partnership between universities & industries. The collaboration approach is must for the sustainable development of RMG & Textile Industries of Bangladesh. This will benefit the academics, students and also the industries as a whole, he added.
 At the end of the seminar, an education partnership agreement was signed between BUFT, aamra Resources Ltd and Lectra. BUFT Vice Chancellor Syed Masud Husain and Shohel Ahmed, COO of aamra Resources Ltd, signed the MoU on behalf of the respective organizations.
