A court in Pabna has summoned The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam to appear before it on March 24 in a defamation case. Pabna Senior Judicial Magistrates Court Judge Rezaul Karim passed the order yesterday after police submitted an investigation report complying with an earlier order, said a counsel for the plaintiff. Pabna district Awami League Vice-President Rejaur Rahim Lal filed the defamation suit against Mahfuz Anam with the court on February 16. In the case, Rejaur Rahim claimed The Daily Star editor defamed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by publishing reports during the caretaker government in 2007 based on information supplied by an intelligence agency.
