BSL to regain past glory of football

The logo unveiling ceremony of the Bangladesh Super League (BSL) will be staged at a formal ceremony at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on February 28.
The BSL, a franchise football league, first ever in Bangladesh will be jointly organised by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and the Saif Powertec involving seven divisional teams from across the country.
The bidding for the franchise teams will be held in April while some corporate houses from home and abroad show their interest to buy teams, while the league is expected to get underway from December and they will completed all the formalities  by November, as organisers informed all in a press conference yesterday.
Badal Roy, vice-president of the BFF, Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, managing director of the Saif Powertec and general secretary of BFF were present among others in the press conference.
Badal Roy, also the chairman of the development committee of the BFF, expected that with organising the BSL they want to create the football craze to regain the glory of soccer across the country.
“We expect that it will open the new era of soccer in our country if we can successfully organise the BSL where quality foreign booters will play and foreign coaches will also be involved.”
The criteria to involve with the franchise league will be decided in a corporate night in March.
Meanwhile, the organisers have already visited three venues while they had Rajshahi Stadium, Rangpur and Mymensingh Stadium.
However, the organisers believe that all the teams, organisers will be benefited as the league will be organised with commercial aspect. The CMG, an Indian event management company, has collaboration with the Saif Powertec and BFF.
