2 drug peddlers detained
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two alleged drug traders with 13,870 yaba tablets from Kathalbaria area on Rajshahi-Dhaka Highway under Puthiya Upazila of the district yesterday noon, RAB sources here said yesterday afternoon.
The detained persons were identified as Abdul Wahid, 30, son of Sanaullah of Sarail village and Parvez Mosharraf, 24, son of Mijanur Rahman of Sultangonj village both under Godagari Upazila of the district.
On a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted a sudden raid in a fertilizer-laden stranded truck and seized it in the area around 12.15 pm. The team members recovered the huge yaba tablets and 640 bags of fertilizer after searching the truck. They also arrested the two persons in this connection.
A case was recorded with the police station in this connection and the arrested persons with seized goods including the truck were handed over to the police.
Mobile court fines four shops
A mobile court in Sylhet yesterday afternoon fined four shops Tk 10,000 for not hanging the price list in the shops in the citys Mirer Moydan area,.
The mobile court assisted by district executive magistrate Yasmin Akther and Nilufa Akther and district marketing officer Md Murshed Kader.
In city Mirer Moydan point, Rahman store was fined Tk 4,000, Maa Enterprise fined 2,000, Salam Brothers fined Taka 2,000 and Super Shop was fined Taka 2,000.
