A group of students of AF Rahman Hall have staged a protest against their provost and vadnalised six CC cameras following his sudden inspection in a room, reports UNB.
The incident took place after the hall’s provost, Prof Dr Aftab Uddin, during an inspection identified three outsiders at a room and handed them over to police around 12:40 am on Wednesday.
However, the action sparked protest among other students as, according to a good number of hall inmates, he used to behave ‘very roughly’ with the students.
The agitated students changed slogans against the provost and broke 6 CC cameras inside the hall to erase the evidence of protest, said sources.
Contacted, officer-in-charge of Shahbag Police Station Abu Bakar Siddique said the hall authority handed over three outsiders to the police station on Tuesday midnight.
However, the outsiders were released Wednesday following an instruction from the university authority.
