Huge crowd at book fair

Amar Ekushey Book fair on its 25th day (Yesterday) witnessed, gaining it’s normal look with the presence of good numbers of book lovers, though two days (Feb 24) ago a sudden heavy rain with hailstorm forced the fair to immediate shut down and caused a huge loss for both the publishers and the fair authority as well.
Besides, publishers are hoping to overcome their losses for the bad weather as in the last days of the fair most of the booklovers will buy their favorite books which are not buy yet.
Ahmed Noyon, publisher of Anondo publications, said “It is a good signal for us seeing that people are again started visiting the fair in full swing and thumbing through their books”.
“At the last time of the fair people who come, most of them buy their favourite books from the fair” he added.
“If we can able to stand up by overcoming our damages with a good sale in last days of the fair, it will be our satisfaction” he said.
On the other hand, Jalal Uddin, secretary general of the fair committee, said that we are successful to overcome our damages and today (Thursday) the weather is quite well.
“Visitors will not have to face any disturbance on the fair premises as the authority takes immediate initiatives to regain the normal atmosphere of the fair” he said.
“Electricity connections have also been repaired and there is no problem." Jalal Ahmed said.
Meanwhile, the fair witnessed a good number of people yesterday who were seen, roaming on the premises of the fair for their favourite titles which did not buy yet.
Sujon Mondal, a master’s student of Jagannath University, said “I was busy with my classes and personal work that is why I have come today to buy my favorite books”.
 “I am actually planning to come at the fair another day as for this year the fair will be shut down in next week” he added.
Meanwhile, the Bangla Academy authority have added three hours extra as the publishers urged academy to enhance the fair time as they may have to face loss this year for their recent damages.
Bangla Academy sources said on the two holidays the fair will open at half an hour earlier than the scheduled time (3 pm) and will continue till 8 pm and on Sunday and Monday the fair gate will open at 1 hour earlier (2 pm) than the scheduled time (3 pm) and will continue till 8 pm.
A total of 74 new books cover were unveiled at the fair yesterday.
