Students and teachers on Wednesday demanded punishment to the criminals who ransacked the Shaheed Minar at the premises of Jangalbari High School in Karimganj earlier on the day.
Police have arrested three students in connection with the incident.
The arrestees are Anwar Hossain, Raju Shekh and Farhad Hossain. They are all students of class-VIII of the school. They were picked up police from their houses, close to the school.
Abdul Qadir, head teacher of Jangalbari High School said some alumni of the school locked an altercation with teachers on February 21 while taking selfie.
Following the incident, alumni and present student of the school ransacked the Shaheed Minar with hammer and iron rod early Tuesday.
Head teacher of the school filed a case against four identified and five unidentified persons with Karimganj thana in this connection.
Dipak Majumdar, officer-in-charge of Karimganj, said three of the accused have already been arrested; and a drive is going to nab rest of them.
