Six people were killed when a mud-laden trawler capsized in the Dhaleshwari River at Alirtek in Sadar upazila during a storm yesterday, reports UNB.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet. The trawler, MV Rahmatullah Express, with 30 workers on board sank in the middle of the river at noon when it was hit by a cargo vessel, said officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Abdul Malek.
Twenty-four workers managed to swim ashore while six others went missing after the incident.
Later, Fire Service divers recovered the bodies of the missing workers from the bulkhead around 10pm.
