Arrest of Hindu priest killers demanded

Students under the banner of ‘Sanatan Shikhartibinda’ formed a human chain in Lalbag area on Rangpur-Dhaka Highway in the city yesterday, demanding arrest of the killers of Hindu priest Jogeshwar Das Adhikari.
They also demanded the authority concern to take steps to ensure capital punishment to the killers. Miscreants allegedly hacked priest Jogeshwar Das Adhikari of Sri Sri Shantu Santo Gaurio Math monastery, to death and injured a devotee at Sonapota village in Debiganj upazila in Panchagarh on Sunday morning.
Students of Carmichael College, Carmichael School and College and other educational institutions in Rangpur participated in the programme
The speakers alleged that suspected Islamist militants have been killing and targeting minorities in different parts of the country.
They also alleged that not only the minorities but also the common people are passing insecure life in the country.
Narayan Chandra Kunda, associate professor, Accounts Department, Ashish Kumar Roy, Haritesh Chandra Roy, Udoy Saha, Chittranjan Roy, and other students, addressed the programme.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Gagroto Chattrabondhu Sanatani Sangha, Rangpur formed human chain in front of Rangpur Press Club yesterday, protesting the killing of Hindu priest. Advocate Ratish Chandra Bhowmik, Mukul Roy, Dilip Kumar Roy, Abdul Quddus spoke the programme, among others.
