Cops, �drugs peddler� clash leaves 7 hurt

Seven people, including five members of police, were injured in a clash with drug peddlers and police on Tuesday night in Rangipara slum under Halishahar Police Station.
The injured were identified as Himel Roy, Sub-inspector (SI), Mizanur Rahman, SI, Nur Absar, SI, Md Shafiqual Islam, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Zakir Hossain, ASI, of Halishahar Police Station, Md Sohel, an alleged drug peddler and his father Jahangir Alam alias Kala Miah.
All the policemen were released from Chittagong Medical College Hospital after taking primary treatment, said Halishahar Police Station sources.
According to sources, a team of police consisting eight members conducted a drive in Rangipara slum area to nab Sohel. Sensing the presence of police, the followers of the Sohel all on a sudden attacked police,” Pronab Kumar Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Halishahar Police Station, said.
