A large British business delegation is now in city on a three-day visit to drive forward partnerships between Bangladesh and the UK for the growth and prosperity of the two countries, reports UNB.
“There’s a strong desire, from both sides, to further strengthen relations between our two countries, and this is the primary purpose of our trade mission,” said
delegation leader Peter Lindsay who arrived here on Monday night.
Of the almost 20 UK organisations represented, some already have business with Bangladesh and others are taking their first steps towards entering this fascinating market, a British High Commission statement quoted Lindsay as saying.
“We’ll be meeting international donors, NGOs, key members of the Bangladesh business community and, of course, government bodies - so vital to the successful implementation of these aid funded projects,” said the delegation leader.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Alison Blake said the UK is the leading bilateral grant donor in Bangladesh and this visit provides excellent opportunities for UK businesses to share knowledge with partners and identify how best they can supply resources and services to the benefit of both countries.
“I’m delighted an UK delegation from Aid Funded Business is visiting Bangladesh,” she added.

The visiting UK companies, experts in the field of development and humanitarian aid-work, will meet a wide range of development partners, government officials, and non-government organisations.
The delegation will engage with the parties to understand the scope of projects taking place and identify what opportunities are available for the supply of services and resources.
