CHITTAGONG: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in special drive arrested four people, including two alleged drug peddlers, from Surson Road area in the city on Monday night.
During the drive, Rab seized one lakh yaba tablets, two motor-bikes, Tk 3.40 lakh in cash.
The arrestees were Chand Miah Sowdagor, 49, Md Alamgir alias Alamgir Member, 34, Md Anisur Rahman, 35, and Hosne Ara Begum, 30.
Lt Col Miftah Uddin Ahmed, Commanding Officer of Rab-7 said acting on tip-off, a team of Rab-7 stopped a motor-bike on surson road and arrested Chand Miah, ALamgir, and Anisul with 90,000 yaba tablets.
Following their information, Rab conducted another drive at Abdus Sakur’s home and arrested his wife Hosne Ara along with 10,000 yaba tablets, said Miftah Uddin. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Abdus Sakur fled the spot.
“Chand Miah and Alamgir usually bring the yaba from Myanmar, and then Anisul and Sakur used to sell the yaba to the drugs takers and retailers,” said Miftah Uddin.
The arrestees also distributed the yaba tablets to nearby districts as well, said Miftah.
