The parliamentary standing committee on industries ministry yesterday suggested strengthening monitoring by Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) to prevent irregularities in petrol pumps, reports BSS.
The 12th meeting of the parliamentary standing committee at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) made the recommendation.
Presided over by committee Chairman Omar Faruq Chowdhury, the meeting was attended by committee members Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Habibur Rahman Molla and Rahimullah, said an official release.
The meeting recommended ensuring proper quality and weight of diesel, octane and petrol in the filling stations by strengthen monitoring.
It reviewed progress in implementation of the decisions taken in the previous meeting.
A report was placed before the committee on the ongoing activities under the revenue and development budgets of corporations and agencies under the industries ministry.
The meeting suggested taking the opinion of law ministry in one month to fix the prices of plots of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC). Senior officials were present in the meeting.
