Making of a documentary film titled ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ (My Golden Bengal), the first of its kind, on the national anthem of Bangladesh is set to start from the last week of February, the month of language movement, a press release said. After 44 years of the declaration of Bangladesh’s national anthem, this is the first time that a documentary film has been initiated to be produced on the song. To be more precise, the documentary film is going to be made after 115 years of writing the song by Rabindranath Tagore. With a grant by the Bangladesh government, the documentary film will be directed by Mridul Mamun and produced by Drisshokar Films, and the film is likely to release in December this year.
Meanwhile, director Mridul Mamun earned appreciation from the critics and won awards in various film festivals for making two different short films titled ‘Kobutorbaz’ (Pigeon Player) and ‘Sobai Ekjat’ (All are Same Race). His other documentary ‘Gotipot’ (Moving Canvas) is awaiting its release soon.
Mamun is the former general secretary and current vice president of Bangladesh Documentary Council. l
