A tribunal in Dhaka yesterday framed charges against Shahadat Hossain, a suspended national cricket team player, and his wife Nitto in a case filed for allegedly torturing their 11-year-old domestic help, reports UNB.
Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 Tanzina Ismail framed the charges and passed to order for starting the trial of the case from March 20.
Earlier on February 4, the tribunal accepted the chargesheet against the couple and fixed today (February 22) for framing charges.
On December 29 last year, police submitted the chargesheet against Shahadat and Nitto in the case.
Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Mirpur Model Police Station, submitted the chargesheet to the general recording office of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
A total of 12 people were made prosecution witnesses in the case.
On December 8, the High Court granted bail until March 31 next to Shahadat while his wife Nitto was granted bail until January 17 in the case on December 1.
On October 4, police arrested Nitto from Pabna Lane at Malibagh in the capital.

On September 6, Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, the domestic help of Shahadat’s residence, was found lying injured on a road in Sangbadik Colony area at Pallabi in Dhaka.
