Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said yesterday teachers ought to teach the language and culture of the land to their learners to take Bangladesh ahead, reports BSS. Information minister was speaking as the chief guest at the 145th foundation course of the National Academy of Education Management (NAEM) at its auditorium, here. Hasanul Haq Inu said Bangladesh was a land of pirs, fakirs, bauls and dervishes; their syncretic culture inspired Tagore, Nazrul and Bangabandhu.
It is the path of tolerance and democracy where arsonists, partisans and corrupts had no place, he added. “Teachers could not compromise with principles. They were the unbolted windows of the nation’s soul which displayed the golden future to their pupils,” he said at the programme. Referring to the proper pronunciation of the language, he said “Those who distort the language were enemies of the language.” He stressed the need for introduction of Bengali in all faculties of the universities and development of ICT materials in the mother tongue. Chaired by the director general of NAEM, Professor Md Hamidul Haq, the seminar was attended by Additional Secretary A S Mahmud of the education ministry as special guest.
Dr Miah Inamul Haq Siddiqui, acting chairman of the National Curriculum and Text Book Board, was the key discussant at the programme.
