After six months of raising pay scale of civil bureaucracy, the cabinet yesterday approved the new pay scale for the members of the judicial service raising the current salary by nearly 100 percent to be effective from July 1, 2015.
The salary of a Senior District Judge will be equivalent to the salary of a secretary of Tk 78,000 (consolidated) from Taka 40,000 and an assistant judge will get Tk 30,935 from existing of Tk 16,000. The approval was given in the weekly meeting of the cabinet, held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair yesterday. After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told the reporters that salaries of the members of the judicial service have been raised in the light of the national pay scale 2015. “Salary of a District judge has been raised to Tk 70,925 from Tk 36,900, while additional district judges will now get Tk 62,350 from existing of Tk 32,000,” he said. “Joint district judges’ basic pay has been hiked from Tk 28,000 to Tk 54,370 while basic pay of senior assistant judges has been raised to Tk 44,450 from Tk 23,000 and assistant judges from Tk 16,000 to Tk 30,935,” he added.
The cabinet secretary informed that the new salary of the judges will get from July 2015 and other allowances from July 2016 as like as other government employees. On September 7, 2015, The cabinet today approved the new pay scale for civil servants and members of the armed forces raising the current salary ranging from 91 to 101 percent to be effective from July 1, 2015. In the cabinet, two laws-“Brikkha Sangrakkhan Ain-2016” (Tree Conservation Act) and “Tea Act-2016” also approved. As per the “Brikkha Sangrakkhan Ain”, nobody can cut the ancient and century-old trees in the reserve forests and other forests of the country even after expiry of their estimated life cycle period in the interest of environmental protection, the cabinet secretary said.
