Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) reshuffled the standing committee in a bid to create a competitive environment amongst the board directors. Reshuffling the committee was one of the major decisions among other in the board’s executive committee meeting yesterday.
Cricket Operations Committee chairman Naimur Rahman Durjoy was replaced by tournament committee chairman Akram Khan who earlier chaired this committee. Saiful Islam Swapan, a director elected from Pabna is appointed as the chairman of Tournament committee. Durjoy, the first Test captain of Bangladesh however didn’t get any committee in the latest reshuffling. BCB’s influential director Islam Haider Mallick who headed Facilities Committee was discharged but didn’t get any new committee. Sheikh Sohel replaced Mallick in the Facilities Committee.
“We did not make these changes to assess the development of the committee. We did it as a part of the regular reshuffle, which we are doing after four or six months,” said BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon.
“We want to give new directors an opportunity to prove them. We are reshuffling the committee in order to create a competitive environment so that everyone remains eager to prove them.”
BCB’s vice-resident AZM Nasir Uddin is appointed as the chairman of Disciplinary committee, a committee was headed by Sheikh Sohel.
The BCB also released the list of contracted player, excluding pacer Rubel Hossain who was show-cause to explain to why he didn’t maintain the rules and regulation of rehabilitation.
“If he could give satisfactory answer he will be included to the list,” said Papon adding, the players salary was increased to 25 percent given their performance in the last year.
The BCB also appointed to junior selectors who will move across the country to judge the quality of the players.
“The three selectors couldn’t go all over the country. That’s why we will appoint two junior selectors to assist in keeping them updated about the new players.”
The BCB lifted the suspension of umpire Naadir Shah, permitting him to officiate the matches of the domestic cricket league. Naadir Shah was suspended for 10 years as he expressed his desire to alter the match in exchange of money in an Indian TV sting operation.
Ahead of the Asia Cup T20 and ICC World T20 2016, the board approved Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan as captain and vice-captain for these two multinational tournaments.
The board inked a deal with UNICEF to use their logo in collar and hand of players’ jersey as charity logo from now.
“We’ve decided in principle that we will use the logo of UNICEF in jersey collar as a charity logo. In this regard, we signed a deal with UNICEF,” Hassan revealed.
Papon also declared that they would give Tk. 5 lakh to each gold winner of the South Asian Games and also sponsor Hockey Federation if they bring any foreign coach.
