BAU 7th convocation today
MYMENSINGH: The 7th convocation of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) will be held at the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium of the university today.
President Advocate Abdul Hamid and chancellor of the university will chair the event.
Educationist, former advisor to the caretaker government, also the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Pacific Jamilur Reza Chawdhury will be the convocation speaker.
A total of 4808 students, including 1919 graduates, 2851 post-graduates and 38 PhD students will be given main certificates in this convocation.
Youth festival at RU Mar 15
RAJSHAHI: Bangladesh Youth Festival is going to be held at Rajshahi University (RU) on March 15.
Bangladesh Band Forum (BBF) will organise the event in collaboration with Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. "Knowledge for transformation" has been selected as theme of the festival. The organisers revealed this at a press conference in a city restaurant yesterday. BBF Founder and Managing Director Shariful Islam read out the statement. Prof Shah Azam Shantunu from Department of Marketing of RU spoke as focal person.
He said the young generation is future of the nation. So, there should have proper guidance and nursing for building them as eligible competitor in the technology-based future world. Prof Azam Shantunu said the interested youths would be selected through the festival. Afterwards, they would be founded as competent entrepreneurs through imparting them with time-fitting training.
EWU holds int’l confce on English studies
With a view to addressing the contemporary pressing issues of English studies in a globalized world, the private East-West University organised a two-day international conference on its Aftabnagar campus on Friday.
The title of the 4th international conference was ‘English Studies and the Marketplace’, said a university press release. Professor Abdul Mannan, chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony.
Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson, Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of the East West University, presided over the session while MM Shahidul Hassan, vice chancellor, East West University, was the special guest. Professor Thomas Andrew Kirkpatrick, Department of Languages and Linguistics, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia presented the keynote paper of the conference. Md Manzur Alam, chairperson, Department of English, was also present on the occasion. Erudite scholars, university teachers and young researchers from home and abroad including presenters from India, Sri Lanka, England and Australia were present.
