A number of books titled on the Language Movement have been published at the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela this year.
According to the Bangla Academy sources, only 10 books titled on Language Movement have been published at the fair so far. Actually more than hundred titles related to Language Movement and Bangla language have arrived at the fair in the last 22 days of the month-long event. This year, Ahmed publications has published a book on Language Movement titled ‘Rastra Vasha Andaloner Dalilpattra’ by Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, Ahmed Rofic’s ‘Ekusher Dinlipi’ from Moddhoma publications, ‘Bangla Bhasa Andolon’ from Moyurakkhi publications are on good sale during the last few days this year.
Stall sources said Agami and Nalonda publications have published two books on language movement while Jatiya Sahitta Prokashoni and Pial publications have published single book marking the movement till yesterday.
Miraz Mridha, a school teacher of Manikgonj district who visited the fair yesterday, said “Every single person of our country should know the significance of our language movement martyrs and the movement”. In this regard Bangla Academy Director General Jalal Ahmed told Independent “We have to take initiatives to publish more books on language as well as the language movement of our country so that our future generation can get clear concept about the significant of 21st February and our language as well”. “So that they can feel the significance” he added. A total of 74 books on liberation war have arrived at the fair till yesterday said academy sources.
Popular novelist Imdadul Haque Milon said, “If we (writers of Bd) want to write books on language movement we should do research on 1952 as a result it would be authentic to our future generation”. He also urged academy authorities as well as the government to take initiatives to publish good quality books on the historical days of our country.
