Faridur Reza Sagar turns 61

The 61st birthday of ‘Ekushey Padak-2015’ recipient in the category Mass Media Faridur Reza Sagar will be celebrated today.
Faridur Reza Sagar, born on February 22, 1955, is a film producer, director and a writer. He is also the managing director of Impress Telefilm Ltd and Channel-i.
He is the son of fiction writer Begum Rabea Khatun and film director Fazlul Haque.
He played the leading role in Bangladesh’s first children’s cinema made by his father. Since his childhood, he has been involved with many children-friendly TV shows on Bangladesh Television.

He earned fame as a young presenter, program conductor and involving himself with television programmes since the inception of Bangladesh Television.
He also started writing literatures. Some of his mentionable publications are ‘A Story Book’, ‘Meghna-O-Galpa Buro’, ‘Meghna and Alladin’s Lamp’, ‘Meghna-O-Eti’, and ‘Jibober Shangee’. He has written over fifty books for children. Adventure, mystery, travel, reminiscence, horror, Liberation War, fantasy- these are varieties of genres that he has in his bag of creativity for the children. He has written many scripts and dramas for the children as well. He has solely produced at least 42 feature films.
In 2005, he was awarded with ‘Bangla Academy Award’ for his very special contribution for children’s literature. Faridur Reza Sagar received international acclaim for his films ‘Nirantor’ (Forever Flows) and ‘Swapnodanay’ (On the Wings of Dreams) along with many other films.
Among film awards, he was awarded the Bangladesh Film Journalists Association (BACHSAS) Award, Cultural Reporters Award, National Film Award, and many national level awards.
