TheatrEX to stage �Kabar� at BSA today

In memory of nine noted deceased playwrights of the country, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised a five-day commemorative event titled ‘Smriti, Swatta, Bhabissat’ (Memory, Entity, Future), which will take place at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA from today to February 26.
Noted wordsmith Syed Shamsul Haque will inaugurate the event today at 5pm, where Dhaka University Pro- Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasreen Ahmad will be present as chief guest. Presided over by BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, director of Theatre and Film Department Sara Ara Mahmud will speak at the event.
The nine playwrights to be paid tribute to are Anis Chowdhury (1929-1990), Munier Chowdhury (1925-1971), Selim Al Deen (1949-2008), Abdullah Al Mamun (1942-2008), Sayeed Ahmed (1931-2010), Nurul Momen (1908-1990), Zia Haider (1936-2008), Syed Waliullah (1922-1971) and SM Solaiman (1953-2001).
As a part of the event, TheatrEX Bangladesh will stage Munier Choudhury’s much acclaimed play ‘Kabar’ (The Burial) today at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA at 7:30pm.
Written by Muneir Choudhury, this production has been directed by Nila Saha and designed by Sudip Chakroborthy.  The play is based on the actions surrounding the oppressive regime of the then Pakistani government.
The cast of the play includes Atiqul Islam, Atikur Rahman, Mirza Shakhesep Shakib, Syeda Ifat Ara, Khan Md. Rafiqul Islam, Nusrat Sharmin, Laboni Akter, Mahjabin Islam, and Sushanta Kumar Sarkar.
