Bangladesh Awami League yesterday paid their deep homage to the language heroes by placing wreaths at their graves at Azimpur Graveyard in the capital on the occassion of Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day, reports BSS.
The central leaders of the party laid the wreaths at the graves of Shaheed Abdul Jabbar, Shaheed Abul Barqat and Shaheed Shafiur Rahman at Azimpur Graveyard in the morning.
After placing the wreaths, they stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of the martyrs who laid down their lives on this day in 1952 for establishing Bangla as a state language.
AL Presidium Member Satish Chandra Roy, Dhaka City AL General Secretary and Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Jubo League Chairman Alhaj Omar Faruk Chowdhury and Dhaka City AL Organizing Secretary Shahe Alam Murad were present, among others.
Later, the leaders of Dhaka City AL, Jubo League, Swechhasebak League, Chhatra League, Krishak League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo Mohila League and other associate bodies of the AL laid wreaths at the graves of the martyrs.
