Current nets seized

OUR CORRESPONDENT, Chandpur

Members of the coast guard seized 4.35 lakh metres of band current net and 160 kilograms of jatka (hilsa less than 10 inches long) from three passenger launches on the Meghna  River in Chandpur sadar upazila early yesterday.
Value of the seized items has been estimated at about Tk 87lakh, said coast guard sources.
They said a team of coastguard members, led by station commander M Enayetullah, launched drives in three launches – MV Jahid-4, MV Samrat-2 and MV Coco-5 in the middle of the Meghna River and seized the banned nets and hilsa.
