A campaign was launched in Sunamganj district town yesterday aiming to raise awareness among people about the importance of spelling and pronouncing Bangla correctly, reports UNB.
Sunamganj Pouro College, in association with the district administration, launched the campaign in all educational institutions here marking the International Mother Language Day. A procession was also brought out from Sunamganj Pouro College complex which ended at the city’s Pouro Biponi market premises.
Addressing the programme, deputy commissioner Sheikh Rafiqul Islam urged students to practice correct Bangla spelling and pronunciation to pay tributes to the language martyrs. Besides, a book fair and a cultural programme were also organised at Hason Raja Museum complex where artistes from eleven upazilas of the district performed.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Monzur Mohammad Shahriar and principal of Sunamganj Pouro College Shergul Ahmed spoke on the occasion.
