�Caned by teacher�, schoolboy dies

A class-X student who was seriously injured reportedly being caned by his teacher at Shouljalia High School in Kathalia upazila of Jhalakati 12 days ago died at a hospital in the capital yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased, Shuvo Howlader, son of Sanjib Howlader, was cremated on Saturday. Family sources claimed Shuvo was severely caned by one of his schoolteacher for not being able to answer to a question in his class. Injured and traumatised, Shuvo was first taken to Kathalia Upazila Health Complex, then to district hospital and Barisal for treatment. Later, he was shifted to National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka where he died on Friday.
