Boy killed in road crash
A teenage boy was killed and his father severely injured as a track crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw they were riding at Kalabagan in Hathazari upazila in Chittagong yesterday morning.
Assistant sub-inspector Pankaj Barua, in-charge of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police camp, said Md Ziku, 15, a resident of Betbunia Seheri Bazar of Rangamati district along with his father Md Hashem, 45 were injured when a truck slammed into their CNG-run auto-rickshaw at 7am. Doctors declared Ziku dead after they were taken to CMCH.
20 hurt in Gazipur clash
At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Awami League over previous enmity at Natun Bazar in Joydebpur area on Friday.
Locals said Mamun Mandal, a councillor of 35 no ward unit of AL, had an enmity with Sanaur Rahman, a councillor of 36 no ward unit, over establishing supremacy.
As a sequel to the enmity, supporters of Sanaur attacked the vehicles of the group of Mamun Mandal while returning from a function and vandalised some motorcycles in the evening.
92 held with liquor in Ctg
Chittagong district police in a series of overnight drives arrested 92 people with liquor from different upazilas of the district Friday night. Abdul Awal, additional superintendent of police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said police detained the 92 people with 145 litres country-made liquor from different upazilas of the district for their alleged involvement in sabotage acts and vandalism.
Two drug peddlers arrested
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two alleged drug traders with 1760 yaba tablets from Nawdapara Bus Stand area under Shah Mukhdum Police Station in the city early hours on Friday, RAB sources here said.
They are the residents of Mujib Nagar Upazila of Meherpur district.
