There is no specialised hospital for the AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) patients in the country to get treatment; health ministry sources told BSS yesterday.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said, “The health sector of the country achieved a lot of success under the bold and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ... our hospitals are well-equipped with updated technologies but we do not have the specialised hospitals for ADIS affected people yet.”
“But the government has taken initiatives to provide treatments and medicines free of cost to HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) positive patients at different hospitals in the country,” he added.
The hospitals are - Infectious Disease Hospital at Mohakhali, Dhaka, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Chittagong Medical College, Khulna Medical College and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College University in Dhaka.
