Press Club serves notice on Abdal

President of the National Press Club Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman and its General Secretary Quamrul Islam Chowdhury served a legal notice on Syed Abdal Ahmed, former General Secretary of the Club, accusing him of being “sub-judice”, reports BSS. The contention of the President and Secretary is that as the matter is under the perusal of the court, therefore any program that aims to influence the proceedings or outcome of the case is sub-judice.
Abdal had called for a “protest meeting” on the Press Club premises on June 21, 2015 about the same issue for which he had filed a case in the court. On June 8, 2015 Abdal had filed a case for declaration in the Court of the 1st Joint District Judge, Dhaka. Shafiq and Quamrul, in their notice, warned of further legal action if the notice was not heeded to.
