Sk Jamals concern team combination

Sports Reporter

Newly appointed coach and captain of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Shafiqul Islam Manik and Wedson Anselme’s only concern about the team’s combination ahead of their AFC Cup assignment.
Sheikh Jamal, who are scheduled to begin their AFC Cup campaign with an away match taking on the champions club of Singapore on February 23, had to struggle to form a strong side.
Meanwhile, Jamal had to face great trouble to form a team for the AFC Cup after losing almost all of their premier performers of the previous season and just lined up a side with some new players and taking loan from other clubs.
Jamal could begin their full fledged practice session just a week before after signing up Shafiqul Islam Manik as head coach when their regular coach Joseph Afusi was not available.
Manik, while talking to the reporters after a practice match  with Log Area of Bangladesh Army yesterday at the club ground said that it would be a great challenge for him to play an AFC Cup match within six to five days after taking the charge.
“It is a big challenge, as I will have to play the AFC Cup match, one of the top level competitions in Asia at away ground right after 10 to 12 days after having the duty as a head coach.”
“You know all, Jamal is now not in their previous position, as they have been passing tough time to collect players to form a strong side, so in this position I took the charge and we will have to face a bit trouble to have a good combination with newly comprised team.”
“Moreover I am yet to get all players, as some of them have injury and some have lacking of fitness, however, these are not excuse but the condition of the team. We are very much hopeful to throw out all the encumbrances,” said Manik.
“In fact now, our great concern is the team combination, as the team was formed just taking players on loan and with some newly signed up performers and some of the previous players.”
“But I believe after playing the away match in Singapore, team will get a shape.  In this respect the local boys will have to perform with the foreign players, Wedson, Emeka and Landing, who are proven performers.”
“Will try our best and let’s see to have the best result with the limited resource,” Manik replied to a query.
About the practice match they played yesterday against Log Area team of Army and thanks to a hat-trick from Wedson they won the match by 7-0 margin. But Manik doesn’t  think it is the real picture of the team as it would better if they have the opportunity to play one or two matches against any strong side.
