Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (SPB) will stage a demonstration in the capital today protesting the government’s decision to hike train fares, reports UNB.
The two left parties will jointly hold the demonstration in front of Rail Bhaban at 11 am.
In a joint statement yesterday, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and SPB general secretary Khalequzzaman said Bangladesh Railways (BR) has recently proposed to increase train fares in the name of reducing loss in the sector, but it has no plan to improve the services. They said although train is an environment-friendly, safe and energy-effective transportation, there has been a plot to destroy the sector.
The leaders stressed the need for forging a strong movement to protect the country’s railway sector from destruction.
