Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif yesterday said Awami League knows how to develop friendly relations with the outside world, reports UNB. “Awami League had maintained good relations with the friendly countries after keeping the country’s interests unharmed in the past. The relation is still good,” he said. Hanif came up with the remarks at a views-exchange meeting with journalists at his residence. In reply to recent remarks of BNP leader Hannan Shah, the Awami League joint general secretary said, "It has already been proved to the outside world about the progress in development activities in Bangladesh under the capable and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."
Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, "BNP has now become bankrupt politically. A sense of frustration has now been prevailing among the leaders and activists of the party due to failure of their chairperson. They have been coming up with such remarks out of sheer frustration."
The ruling party leader was asked whether the relation of Awami League with Indian political party Congress deteriorated following the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh.
He also described BNP leader Hannah Shah as an insane and illiterate for his remarks that a ‘world thief’ is running the government.
"Keeping the country's interest above all, Awami League had maintained better relations with friendly countries and it has been continuing. There is no reason left for BNP to suspect that the relations between Awami League and any other foreign party had deteriorated," he said.
