The newly invented rice transplanting machine is gaining popularity to the farmers in Panchagarh district.
Farmers are using the machine for planting Boro seeds. The machine has manifold benefits like less labour cost and short time for Boro cultivation.
Planting of Boro seeds on at least eight bigas is possible by using the machine, while half-litter of fuel is needed against one biga of land.
Paddy production will increase by 13 percent following uses of the machine, Agriculture expert said.
A farmer's field day on "Display of transplanting machine" was held at Zahandapara village under Saldanga union of Debiganj upazila of the district on Tuesday.
Agriculture extension department arranged the programme.
Debiganj upazila agriculture officer Md. Abdullaha Al Mamun explained about the machine.
He said the government has taken different initiatives to increase food production to make the country food autarky.
