State-run Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) has continued its efforts to supply and market urea fertiliser through import and production from its own source like previous years.
In continuation of that process, a three -member delegation headed by Secretary of Ministry of Industries Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan visited Sabic, Saudia Arabia from February 7 to February 14, the corporation said in a statement.
In this context, an agreement (G 2 G) was signed for importing 200,000 tonnes of Granular urea, 105,000 tonnes of prilled urea from Sabic, Saudi Arabia on February 8 in presence of industries secretary and Bangladesh ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Moshio and Economic Councillor Dr Mohammed Hasan. Mohammad Iqbal on behalf of Chairman of BCIC and General Manager of Nirogen, BU Rabbiyan Abu Naser signed the
agreement.
With this agreement, urea stock will be sufficient to meet the national demand for the year 2016-17 and it will facilitate distribution.
The team also visited fertiliser factories of Sabic, Saudi Arabia and port facilities in Jubail City.
