NSU 19th convocation tomorrow
North South University (NSU) is going to hold its 19th convocation ceremony at its own campus on Thursday, says a press release.
President Md Abdul Hamid and chancellor of university, will preside over the convocation ceremony and will confer degrees to 2130 students. Dr Rita Rossi Colwell, the distinguished professor, University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University, USA, will deliver the convocation speech. Gour Gobinda Goswami, vice chancellor in charge, MA Kashem, chairman and other members of the Board of Trustees of NSU, along with deans of four schools will take part in this ceremony. Ministers, diplomats, dignitaries and heads of international organizations and university vice chancellors from home and abroad will be present in this auspicious ceremony.
UIU allocates fund for research work
United International University (UIU) on Monday selected 15 teachers with UIU Research Grant for the research work in various fields, including education, communication and technology, climate and environment, and telecommunications.
The university also awarded 22 other teachers for research in national and international level. The authority yesterday granted the fund at UIU Research Grant Awarding Ceremony 2016 at UIU auditorium in the capital on Monday. UIU created the fund UIU Research Grant for the research work of the teachers of any other university who can apply for research work. The UIU authority has allocated Tk one crore for this purpose. Chairman of university grants commission (UGC) Abdul Mannan, UIU Vice-Chancellor M Rizwan Khan, Vice-Chairman of UIU Board of Trustees Faridur Rahman Khan, Pro-VC Chowdhury Mostafizur Rahman, spoke on the occasion, among others.
Applied research methodology training held
The inaugural ceremony of third intensive training programme on Applied Research Methodology was held at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on Saturday, says a press release.
AFM Sarwar Kamal, chairman, BUBT Trustee Board, was the chief guest, Professor Quamrul Alam, Monash University and Professor Firoz Alam, RMIT University, Australia, attended as the guests of honour, Professor Shafique Ahmed Siddique, member of BUBT Trustee Board, was present as special guest while Professor Md Abu Saleh, vice-chancellor of BUBT, presided over the ceremony. Educationist Santi Narayan Ghosh, research director of BUBT, delivered introductory speech as the coordinator of the training programme. Monirul Hasan Masum, assistant professor of Marketing, was dedicated for overall arrangement of the ceremony as the Deputy Coordinator of the training programme.
