CHITTAGONG: Police arrested five alleged members of an inter-district robbers' gang from city's Pahartali area early yesterday, reports BSS.
The arrestees were Salauddin, 21, and Mamun Hossain alias Mitu, 26, of Chittagong district, Sheikh Farid, 25, of Bagerhat district, Mohamamd Sharif, 24, of Feni district, Sazzad Hossain Roni, 22, of Comilla district.
Police also recovered three daggers, two ultramodern knives with lances, hex blades, two iron rods and a pot of balm from their possession. A team of Pahartali police apprehended them from Green View residential area under city's Pahartali thana while they were preparing to commit robbery, said Ranjit Kumar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pahartali police station.
The arrested confessed to their involvement in robbery and snatching away money and valuable goods, the OC said that the arrested also planned to commit robbery at a house in Green View residential area but in vain as police managed to arrest them.
