Chittagong City Corporation mayor AJM Nasir Uddin yesterday assured of extending all-out support and cooperation for the development of tourism sector in the premier port city. The CCC mayor gave the assurance while inaugurating Tourism Fair at Patenga Butterfly Park. The two-day long tourism fair is being sponsored by Intraco Group of Companies with support from Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development (BFTD). While addressing as the chief guest, AJM Nasir said that Chittagong is a city of history and heritage.
“Chittagong contributes to the economy of the country to a great extent. However, it is a matter of regret that the premier port city is not duly evaluated. And so is the case with the tourism industry of Chittagong,” added Nasir.
Nasir also underscored the importance for preserving all the historical sites of Chittagong.
Echoing with the CCC mayor, BFTD Chairman HM Hakim Ali in his speech said, “We all know that Chittagong is a hub of tourism since the city is bestowed with many tourist attractions. Despite contributing to the economy of the country, Chittagong is being deprived of its fair share of development.”
Ali also urged the media of the country to project Chittagong so that the tourism industry could thrive. The inaugural ceremony was addressed by Executive Director of BFTD Rezaul Ekram Raju and local ward councillor Saleh Ahmed, among others.
