A two-week solo watercolour exhibition titled ‘Koto Ojanare’ by artist Saeeda Kamal is now on display at the Edward M Kennedy (EMK) Center, in the city’s Dhanmondi area. Beginning on February 6, the exhibition will be concluded on February 18. The theme for the Saeeda Kamal’s ongoing exhibition is the beauty of nature. Her paintings depict winter birds, boats plying, rivers, waterfalls, tiny islands viewed from the shore and many more. There is also a representation of Old Dhaka, tubs of flowers with palm trees, greenish mountains and others.
Born in Dhaka in 1952, Saeeda Kamal is the daughter of Kamaluddin Ahmad Khan and Poet Sufia Kamal. She did her BFA in painting from Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. She achieved a number of degrees from aboard, including the Artist Residency, Vermont Studio Center Johnson, Vermont, USA. This is the 9th solo exhibition of the artist. Earlier, she exhibited a total number of 8 solo exhibitions at home and abroad, including USA, UK and Germany. She also took part in many group exhibitions.
Earlier on February 6, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Dr Farida Zaman, former director, Department of Fine Arts, University Of Dhaka and eminent artist Mustafa Monowar, among others, were present during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 9.30am to to 8pm until February 18.
