Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday said biometric SIM registration will help stopping all kinds mobile phone-based criminal activities, reports BSS. The Speaker said this system will also improve the law and order situation of the country side by side with ensuring security of the common people. She was speaking as the chief guest at an inaugural programme of re-registration of SIM and RIM activities at Media Centre of the Jatiya Sangsad organised by Post and Telecommunications Ministry. “To re -register around 13 crore SIM cards is a gigantic task for the Post and Telecommunications Ministry and it will not be possible to accomplishing this job by the ministry alone,” Sharmin said. She suggested involving people across the country in this task through a movement. She expressed the hope that the biometric SIM registration activities will soon spread to entire Bangladesh with involvement of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat with the initiative.
